ROBERTO CARLOS SLAMS ETO'O

Brazil legend Roberto Carlos slams Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o, claiming that the Cameroonian star always puts
himself ahead of the team.
The Sivasspor coach has slammed the experienced attacker's behaviour in Russia prior to his move to the Premier
League
Roberto Carlos and Eto'o first played together at Real Madrid in the 1990s, before they were re-united at Anzhi in 2011,
but the current Sivasspor boss was not impressed with the Cameroonian attacker's attitude at the Dagestan side.
"I've known Eto'o since he was 16. He's a good person and I've always liked him, but he always thinks of himself, not
the group," Carlos told Globoesporte.
"It's quite confusing and odd when a footballer, instead of playing, is interested in bringing in players who are his
friends. He did everything at Anzhi, except play football.
"There were a few small problems in the dressing room with the arrival of Eto'o, which were resolved. His signing had to
be explained to several players.
"Then there came a point when Samuel wanted to interfere in my work. He wanted to control the club, taking my place
and that of the coach, Guus Hiddink."
32-year-old Eto'o left Anzhi for Chelsea in the summer transfer window after a squad overhaul at the Dagestan outfit.

ASUU STRIKE: NEW PDP YOUTHS SET TO PROTEST

According to reports, the youth section of the new Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP have threatened to mobilize Nigerian
youths across the country, to protest against the closure of universities for over two months and alleged insensitivity of
the Federal Government to the plights of Nigerian students.
The nPDP youth leader, Timi Frank said it was really a shame that students would be out of schools for over three
months under a democratically elected government.
Frank said the attitude of the current administration, under President Goodluck Jonathan, to the plight of the striking
workers was an indication that he had lost track with the basic tenets of governance.
He noted that since all entreaties to make government honour its agreement with the lecturers had failed, the only
option left for anyone concerned about the future of this country was to mobilise the affected students for a mass
protest.
To ensure mass participation, he stated that he had held numerous meetings with various student groups in the
country.
Frank said: "Before I became the national youth leader of the new PDP, I had been speaking against the injustice being
meted out to Nigerian students over the ongoing ASUU strike. I can assure you that this is an issue the new PDP will
address.
"I am going to take this campaign up as the national youth leader of the new PDP. I am going to lead a protest against
the present government because it has not done anything to demonstrate that the future of the Nigerian youth is
paramount in its agenda.
"I have begun consultations with various student groups and we will unfold our strategies for the mass protest soon.
"University undergraduates are at home, but today nobody is talking about the situation, all they are talking about is
their 2015 ambition. PDP will not give any leader 2015 that will not stand by the youths of this country, that will not
resolve the ASUU crisis. Anybody that wants to stand under the platform of PDP must show commitment to the plight of
Nigerian youth."
He said he had been elected under the new PDP as the national youth leader and that his immediate goal was to rally
all the PDP youth leaders across the nation in support of the new agenda of bringing sanity to the party.
According to him, it is in redressing the various injustices under the Bamanga Tukur-led PDP that the future of the
youth can be secured.
He said: "As the national youth leader of the new PDP, the PDP with hope, the PDP with bright future, the PDP with
fairness and the authentic PDP under the leadership of Kawu Baraje, I am here today (yesterday) to urge all Nigerian
youths under the PDP that we should all remain calm."

Messi also briefly reacted to rumours that Barcelona have asked the Argentine football association (Afa) to leave him
out of the squad for their remaining two World Cup qualifiers, and stressed that he always wants to play for the
national team.
"I don't know anything about that. I always want to play for Argentina."

NETHERLANDS CLOSE PRISONS FOR LACK OF CRIMINALS

While prison populations grows in the United Kingdom, with overcrowded cells and repeat offenders, the opposite is
happening in the Netherlands.
The Dutch justice ministry has announced that the country is going to close at least 8 prisons due to a lack of
criminals.
According to the local media, the country has the capacity for 14,000 prisoners and there are only 12,000 detainees.
The decrease is expected to continue, the ministry said, also the natural redundancy and other measures should counter
any forced lay-offs.
A last year report on prison overcrowding said that surging populations undermined the rehabilitation of prisoners and
risked increasing reoffending in the future.
The Criminal Justice Alliance (CJA), which represents more than 60 organisations, called for the government to urgently
limit "the unnecessary use of prison, ensuring it is reserved for serious, persistent and violent offenders for whom no
alternative sanction is appropriate".
It came after Chief Inspector of Prisons Nick Hardwick said the rising pressure on prisons from budget cuts and
increasing numbers cannot go on indefinitely.
